Within the Brand & Creative team we’re a the creative core of the company with 11 creatives across 3 disciplines: Brand & Copy (including brand management, copywriting, PR, social media & project management), Creative (covering graphic design and creative concepting) and Floral Design (creating our beautiful bouquets). We’re responsible for our brand strategy and creative output and work with teams across the business in all markets to bring this to life.
We believe in the power of good design and use customer insight and creativity to build inspirational brand experiences for our customers. We constantly challenge ourselves to do better. We collaborate closely with Range to develop our products, with the Country teams on plans that resonate in the local markets and our Digitals Marketing and Product teams on campaigns, website and app.
We design and create almost everything in house and are passionate about who we are as a brand and how we show up in the world - and we love seeing bloomon grow, so we work at a fast pace, pouring joy and care into everything we do.
What will you do?
We are looking for a Creative Lead / Art Director for the bloomon brand to lead the Creative team and visual identity. You'll report to the Head of Brand as their right hand creative person, and be a valued partner in developing our brand communications. The Creative team is responsible for all of the brand’s creative output across organic and paid channels both digital and physical.
You will work collaboratively with the rest of the Brand team to shape brand storytelling and deliver outstanding content and experiences that set us apart. We bring together creativity and data to build a compelling brand experience across content, products and services that unlocks customer acquisition and retention.
You will be responsible for:
- Lead the visual identity of the brand, ensuring that our creative principles and brand guidelines are lived in all creative output.
- In partnership with the Copy Lead create and lead strong ‘end to end’ campaigns and product storytelling - from concept development through to execution into visuals for multiple touchpoints (including email, organic social content, packaging, physical products, digital media and print advertisement). Ensure the process runs smoothly throughout.
- Leading the art direction for our photo and video shoots by working together with our project manager(s) and external team of stylists, photographers and videographers.
- Being an inspiring leader in the Brand & Creative team, inspiring them to produce their strongest possible work that delivers creatively and commercially.
- Line management of Mid-weight Designer, working together to build engaging and challenging development plans and exciting career possibilities
- Contributing to OKRs for the creative team and ensuring smooth delivery of these each quarter.
- Developing our pool of creative talent across the industry (such as photographers, illustrators, videographers) that feed into our creative work.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Loves being creative - you can come up with lots of creative ideas through concept development, design and artworking to final delivery.
- Enjoys collaborating with others - you’ll work collaboratively with the rest of the brand team and teams across the business - including Digital Product, Business Development, Acquisition & Retention.
- Is a brand guardian - you’ll guard, maintain and develop the bloomon (visual) brand. You’ll play a big part in making sure that everything that goes out looks, feels and sounds like bloomon and meets the needs of the brief.
- Knowledgeable and passionate about interior and lifestyle trends - Motivated to translate these into the bloomon product range and content to keep bloomon as a leader in Floral Design.
- Keep your finger on the pulse of the latest trends - across graphic and product design to inform future direction, and ensure your team do the same.
- Be comfortable being hands on as well as managing - this is a player-coach role so we’re looking for someone who can produce excellent creative themselves as well as manage the mid weight designer in the team in both their creative and project management skills.
- Have an excellent understanding of creative communications and wider media culture and will come with refreshing ideas and strong references to back up your recommendations and decisions.
- You’re adept at communicating creative ideas to non-creatives to build strong understanding and followership of your ideas and recommendations.
- Foster a test and learn mentality across the team, ensuring continual optimisation. You’ll spot opportunities for improvement and future testing alongside other teams as relevant.
- Naturally build strong cross-functional relationships that help the team to unlock better creative activations and experiences for the customer.
- Have a bias to action and bring the energy to motivate your team to see through complex projects with multiple stakeholders at pace from ideation to delivery to capturing learnings for future improvements.
- You communicate clearly and kindly, which helps you to build excellent relationships and get the best out of those around you.
You will have:
- 7+ years of experience either in-house or in agency with a portfolio or work for e-commerce or D2C brands with evidence of creative ideas to design execution.
- A design related degree with considerable commercial experience.
- Team management/coaching experience is ideal.
- Able to use Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Figma and After Effects/Premiere.
- Able to design and execute across digital and print (and be able to artwork for print).
- Able to animate and edit video footage, graphics and audio.
- An understanding of UI/UX to visualise how your idea might come to life across multiple digital touchpoints.
